Abstract:
While literature highlights productivity, innovation, and trade facilitation as drivers of enterprise competitiveness, evidence on the impact of customs measures in emerging economies is limited, particularly in Morocco. This study examines the role of customs administrations in enhancing competitiveness using a survey of 276 enterprises in the Oriental region. The data were analyzed using SPSS through descriptive statistics, the Homogeneity of Variances Test (Levene’s test), and ANOVA. Results show that customs support positively affects competitiveness, though the impact varies by firm type and sector. Enterprises face logistical, communication, technological, and regulatory challenges. The findings underscore ADII’s strategic role and offer policy-relevant insights for tailoring customs facilitation to improve trade efficiency and firm performance.
