Abstract:
Students’ analytical thinking abilities are still relatively limited, which can be attributed, in part, to a lack of teaching materials specifically designed to foster higher-order thinking. Therefore, this study aims to examine the development of a module on elasticity implemented through physics modeling-based learning to improve students’ analytical skills. This module was created to address the need for teaching resources that facilitate higher-order thinking in physics education. This study adopted a development approach based on the ADDIE model. The test subjects consisted of 30 students of class XI MIPA Madrasah Aliyah Pendidikan Islam Parigi Habirau Tengah. The effectiveness of the module was measured using one-group pretest-posttest design, while the data was analyzed using learning outcomes test and N-gain score. The results indicated that the developed module was moderately effective in enhancing students’ analytical thinking skills, as evidenced by an N-gain score of 0.48. There was an increase in students’ analytical thinking skills which reached the good category. The application of physics modeling-based learning has been proven to produce statistically significant improvements in students’ analytical thinking abilities, which was tested using the Wilcoxon nonparametric test. These findings suggest that physics modeling learning can serve as an effective and significant alternative to improve learners’ analytical thinking skills.
