Abstract:
Prior research highlights the importance of quality education in advancing sustainability in higher education, yet limited attention has been given to the technological mechanisms through which educational inputs translate into sustainability outcomes. This study examines how quality education influences sustainability-related outcomes and investigates the mediating role of technology adoption and the moderating effect of technology readiness. Drawing on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), the study hypothesizes that quality education positively affects sustainability awareness, skills, values, decision-making, community engagement, and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, with technology adoption serving as a key transmission mechanism strengthened by technology readiness. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 1,275 university students in Saudi Arabia and analyzed using SEM-PLS and IPMA. The results indicate that quality education significantly influences all sustainability outcomes, while technology adoption mediates these relationships and technology readiness amplifies adoption effects. Technology adoption emerged as the most important yet least-performing factor.
