Ethno-STEM Integrated Physics Interactive Teaching Material: Its Impact to Student’s Critical and Creative Thinking

Abstract:

 

Developing students’ learning and innovation skills, particularly critical and creative thinking, has become an essential demand of twenty-first century education. Nevertheless, evidence shows that these skills are still insufficiently fostered in conventional physics instruction, which often lacks contextual relevance and interactive engagement. To address this gap, this study introduces an Ethno-STEM Integrated Physics Interactive Teaching Material that combines cultural knowledge (ethnoscience) with the principles of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) within an interactive learning environment. A quasi-experimental design employing a post-test-only control group was utilized. Data were collected using a test instrument administered via Google Forms. The analysis involved descriptive statistics, normality testing, hypothesis testing, and effect size testing. Findings revealed that the ethno-STEM integrated physics interactive teaching materials had a significant positive effect on students’ critical and creative thinking skills. These results suggest that such materials are effective in fostering students’ learning and innovation skills.
