Abstract:

Modernising transport education is vital for the transformation of the transport sector in today’s complex environment. This article elucidates the leading tendencies in transport higher education as identified in the Scopus and Web of Science literature. A structured review approach and a bibliometric analysis of the conceptual structure were employed. Eight tendencies in transport higher education were identified through content analysis of the literature. These were validated and clustered using Biblioshiny 5.0’s (Bibliometrix R Studio) factorial analysis feature. The evolution of these tendencies across three periods was examined utilising their chronological sequence and Biblioshiny’s thematic evolution feature. The most frequently mentioned tendencies were recognised as leading, including digital transformation, e-learning and online platforms, sustainability and environmental impact, and innovative teaching methods. According to bibliometric factorial analysis, the topic of innovative teaching methods is central to this research, with digital transformation and e-learning demonstrating the highest potential for future growth. The bibliometric analysis of thematic evolution revealed that since 2023, the topic of sustainability and environmental impact has become central and well-developed within transport higher education. Additionally, the other leading tendencies have shown potential to expand within the domain of data management, an emerging subject during this period.
