Abstract:
The Moving Average Filter (MAF) is widely used to enhance the stability of ultrasonic sensor signals, but its influence on response characteristics, such as rise time, settling time, overshoot, and peak values, requires further investigation. Previous studies indicate that MAF effectively reduces noise but may introduce trade-offs in response speed and signal accuracy. This research explores the effect of varying the number of samples in MAF on ultrasonic sensor performance. It is hypothesized that increasing the number of samples will improve signal stability by minimizing fluctuations and overshoot, albeit at the cost of a slower response. An experimental approach was employed, analyzing key performance parameters under different filter configurations. The findings confirm that while MAF enhances signal stability and reduces overshoot, it also leads to an increase in response time. These insights provide a foundation for optimizing MAF settings in real-time applications, balancing stability and responsiveness based on specific requirements.
